4. Sidebar

The sidebar has a few pre-configured folders on it:

You can put notes directly in each of these, but you probably don't want to do that, instead treat them as the filters they are.

I'd recommend creating a new project (aka folder) by ⌥ option + ⇧ shift + n(Also Library -> Create Folder).
) and naming it something like 'General' for general notes.

It's weird, if you are not careful, the folder will be created under the Welcome project and you probably don't want that, you want a new top level project, so it's easier to select. If you make a mistake and put it under Welcome, no harm done, there will be a little arrow to the left of Welcome:

If you click on the arrow, you can then see the new folder you created, right clicking on it will let you delete it. The iOS version at the time of this writing does not yet support sub folders/projects.

The best way I found to do that is to push the escape key esc, this will put the cursor in the Seearch or Create box, and let you type things in, but don't type anything there. Then Library -> Create Folder .

Here is what I have so far:

You might want to add more like a Project for Recipes, etc.

To make something show up in Todo, you just make a todo tag, by literally typing #todo in the note somewhere. For instance, I have a note called Shopping and I put #todo directly under it. This makes it very quick and easy to find my shopping list. It also makes it a tag on the bottom left you can also click on.

To toggle projects and tags sidebar press control + cmd + shift + b

You can select and filter unlimited projects and tags.

Each subfolder is a project

Make unlimited folders inside your storage. Right click on root folder (Documents) and click "New folder" ⌥ option + ⇧ shift + n.

Each project has its own settings, right click on the project - "Show view options" cmd + shift + ,.

You can configure sorting, direction, visibility settings.
